Okay, so I've downloaded TOR at last

and installed it for Firefox. Clicking on the red "Tor Disabled" legend in the lower right corner of my browser window I activate the proxy and the words "Tor Enabled" replace it in green letters. I enter the web address I wish to visit and press Go! Immediately the following message appears on my screen:

The proxy server is refusing connections
Firefox is configured to use a proxy that is refusing connections

Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct
Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working

So what gives? Which proxy settings might be incorrect, and how will I know what to change them to? Unfortunately, though the instructional video on the TOR site gives very clear instructions on how to save and fire up TOR on a flash drive, it says nothing about the roadblock I'm encountering. So I could really use some pointers.
