It might occur to some people to simply not have problematic material on their HD in the first place, no? Even so, if "they" want you, they'll get you anyway by an even simpler expedient of planting whatever they want on your HD after they take it away. Not meaning to sound negative here, but they not only make the rules, they also enforce them and no one is watching over their shoulders! I am curious about something, though: there is a knock on the door, you glance out and see the men in blue, you shut down your computer with its encrypted drive, and then they come in and freeze it? But... but... but... the contents of RAM is already gone. It's too late. Unless they have, by some magic, set up their cryogenic coolers in your computer before they knock on your door, well, dunno about you, but I tend to keep my house above -272C - that's what heating is for. Unless someone comes up with a realistic method by which RAM can be gelled after that knock on the door and before you turn off the computer, I have to regard this as yet another scare technique on the part of big blue. Something that is theoretically possible but highly unlikely to actually work in any reasonable practical scheme. Works, though; it's generated a whole generation of super paranoid BLs who are afraid to walk through their own doors. And maybe that's the whole idea. Webmaster ![]() |
