It is very effective at stopping your ISP from logging your activities (VPN), but as it is a single hope proxy, if you post or download anything illegal you will still be tracked down, all that LEA has to do is subpoena your VPN provider and ask for the real IP, then subpoena your ISP, and that is it, you get the knock on the door.

But most VPNs claim to have a typical logs retention of 1 month, this means that if LEA wants to prosecute you after one year, they will be too late. If you use your real IP probably your ISP is keeping logs for at least a year.

I believe it is in Europe where, by law, ISPs must keep logs for at least a year.

Online cgi proxies are rubbish. The best is a VPN. And for high anonymity, tor of course.

I have used Cotse.net SSH tunnel in the past and I was happy with them, they claim to keep logs for 5 days, which is reasonable, but always assume 30 days logs at least, maybe more.
