I was setting at my desk - writing checks to pay bills. They seem to arrive every month as regular as clock work. Home property insurance - up another fifty dollars from last year. guess its cause I had to add an estension on the storage shed for the Tigers motor bike. Hospital and medical insurance - up a hundered dollars from last year. Phone bill, electric, heating bill - bills - bills, piles of them. As I set there grumbling and gripping I suddenly realised that it was rather quiet - too quiet in fact for a ten year old boy. I leaned back in my swivel chair listining for a boy noise that would tell me where the Tiger might be. Nothing. Slowly stood up - walked down the hall to the front door. Opened door, stepped out on the porch and scanned the front yard. No Tiger. Back down the hall, through the dinning room and kitchen and quietly stepped out on the back porch. A few years back the Tiger and I had planted some fruit trees out in the back yard. A coupple apples and one pair tree. They were tall enough now to show all their beauity in flowery bloom. As I stood there admiring all the greenery and colorful blooms of different trees I was also scanning the yard for the Tiger. As you know the Tiger is strictly a Mother Natuer boy. I didn't see him at first he was setting so still. He moved, turning his head to his right and pointed with his finger. There setting on a tree limb just a few feet from the Tiger set one of the most beautiful red bird's - ever. Singing its beautiful mateing song. It wasn't long till its mate joined him. I stood in aww - The red bird and its mate singing their hearts out, seemingly just for the Tiger and the Tiger waveing his arm in concert fashion in rythem too their chirping. The Tiger turned his head towards the house and saw me standing there. A big smile spread accross his face, those beautful brown eyes glowed with happiness only a ten year old boy can express. He looked back to the red bird and its mate, said something, they flew off and the Tiger stood and walked towards me. "M" did you see them and did you hear them singing. Weren't they beautiful. This from a ten year old boy - that - rides his motor bike in mud puddels, cakeing him and his motor bike in a layer of gooie stickey mud. Climbs in a tree and gets stuck by the seat of his pants on a stub of a limb and I have to get the extension ladder to unhook him. Gets stuck crawling through a barb wire fence and I have to get the wire cutters to get him loose. A boy that sings with the birds. glows in boy handsomenest with the beauty of Mother Nature. Thats my Tiger -- all boy - as a boy can be. Smiles and hugs Movieman -- love you all ![]() |
