family, you can have 'em

Me and the 6 yo just returned from the obligatory visit with my 'rents. He calls them Grandma and grandpa, so they buy him xmas gifts. While we were there, I learned that my cousin who is in jail, looking at 7.5 years in a federal pen, got a visit from my 'rents(as well as his own). the thing is, when *I* was in jail, neither of my rents ever came to see me. nor did they send so much as a letter. It's not so much that I wanted them to, but more that they are willing to go further for my cousin, than for me. Can't say I'm surprised, but, still... Anyway, the lil guy will be spending the night tonight, and tomorrow, i trade him in for a 14 you to spend the night(Saint). Right now, the kid is sprawled on the floor with the dog, sharing a coloring book. heh
