....I chose NOT to take ANY side. When pressed by one side or the other I simply explained that a true friend wouldn't expect me to take any side, and that whatever the differences the two sides have doesn't, and shouldn't, include me. If they still expected me to, or pressured me to, take a side then I knew that they weren't TRUE friends so taking the side opposite of theirs was a no brainer. If both sides insisted that I take a side then I would know that neither side had any respect for my feelings by putting me is a situation like that and seperateing myself from both wouldn't be earthshattering as I have effectively seperated myself from non-friends before. I can't say that would work for you, but that it works for me.....I use the same logic when a so-called-friend tries to throw a guilt trip at me, as a TRUE friend wouldn't do that to make a their friend feel guilty and uncomfortable just to further their adgenda whatever that might be. There are those on line, and in real life, that I have issues with and my friends are friends with some of those people and I don't expect them to take my side or the other side, as I can feel comfortable with them having other friends that I don't get along with....I like them enough, and respect them enough, not to put them in a situation of having to choose. I hope that you can work this all out without any collateral damage.....and remember that if you do lose any so-called-friends over this situation that you still have many real friends that wouldn't expect you to take sides.
