Thursday - Just one big BM to report. A 7yo approaches the till from behind & calls me trouble & disappears with a cheeky little smile. Then he appears with some sweets & says repeatedly "this will cost 38p with 2p change from 40p". Then he says "hello trouble", pays for his sweets & leaves. He's back again 15 mins later buying something else. This time he stays to chat. He's facinated by the conveyer belt & how it moves, as well as his till receipt. I explain that the belt is controlled by a pedal on the floor. "Can I do it?" he asks & then proceeds to play with it as it's quiet. 5 mins later he's joined by his brother. Their mums in the launderette doing her washing. They both start operating the pedals (both sets), then when a customer comes, the older one, politely asks "would you like a bag" & proceeds to pack the customers shopping for them. Many people passed comments about my little helpers, some saying are you getting paid for this (I didn't get a chance to reward them for their help as will explain later.) The younger one leaves me with his brother, who stays for a further 30 mins, pedalling & packing. My supervisor (who I will shorten to SV), watches from a distance (he knows me well). Sv indicates that I've gotta tell the kid to stop playing with the pedals. It's getting late & I'm still there with Jnr. "Fox, do you wanna start doing the sweeping" says Sv. So I sign off & leave the till. Sv & another colleague politely tell the kid to go back to his mum, cause it's getting late & he runs off. I don't get a chance to say goodbye or thank him for his help. During the sweeping I said to Sv "you only did that to get him out of the shop". Sv said "yes", "you've gotta tell them to p.o." "I can't", I said, "it's not me". "you've got to start" he said. I was still quite happy as he knows that I'm no harm to the boys & they were comfortable in my company, but should've been watched by their mum, I guess. Friday - Just one to report. While I'm on the beach with the missus, Rattata & Gran, I saw 2 little boys (8yo's or younger), laying top-to-toe, side-by-side under a cover in a dingee on the beach, with their cute faces & barefeet sticking out of each end. Saturday Saw the missus, Rattata & Gran of onto the train, she'll phone me later to say they got back okay. It's been an enjoyable week, sort of like a holiday for me too, even though I'm working as well. Plenty to look back on & some great memories! Cu all soon, have read messages before mine today, I wish all Good Health. LvMF72 |
