Hi Billy Budd, I saw the cartoonist, Judd Winick, on cable TV last night. Unfortunately, I only saw the last few minutes since I was channel surfing and came to the show by accident. Apparently, the host of the show had a debate about gay characters in the media and the opposing side was taken by some right-wing fanatic of the 'Family' Research Council. I think it's great that a media outlet such as comic books are introducing gay characters and gay themes. I guess I'm a little slow when it comes to popular culture since this is the first I'm hearing about gay characters in the media. I never considered buying comic books but I might just go to the bookstore in September and pick up a copy of the Green Lantern's #154. Although I must admit, Superman and Spiderman have always been my favorite hero characters. Thanks for the info. |
