Strange title, but read on. If anyone recals the 2nd part to my post "Boys behaving badly" (see link), centred around a group of 3 well behaved boys, two of West Indian origin (not mentioned in post) & one 11yo with ginger hair (probably also not mentioned). Well over the past week, I've been meeting the ginger kid, on occasions in the shop & serving him at till point & exchanging a few quick comments. Like it took him 3 days to see my name tag & my picture and other things. Well on Sunday night, he was in the shop again with his sister/female friend & the other two boys. The girl was cuddling him & he was being very boyish, saying, gerroff, but not volently. But she called him by name, so I memoried it. Later that evening, he approched me in the shop & asked if I could let him off some money to buy something cause he didn't have enough. Well I thought about it & he gave me that cute whine, please with puppy eyes & I said okay. He gave me what he had at till point, he was about 50c short. He didn't keep his receipt, but I did & wrote his name on it, to remember & stored it away in my troucers. He came back into the shop later that evening to give me the balance of the money he owed me, but I got the receipt out with his name on & young eagle eyes spots it. "Whats my name doing on that bit of paper? How do you know my name?" erhh - was my reply, but I gave him his change & he left still happy, but confused. A quick thing person like Tyrogue would've come up with the truthful answer (truth? not Tyrogue, but he would've styled it out), like saying "I had to write down your name, cause I could remember it when you came back with your change & I heard that girl call you "bleep"). He did come back into the shop later & asked about some bakery items, which with the permission of my TL we reduced, but he didn't buy them. Yesterday, was when things took a confusing reversal. I was off duty and out of uniform & talking to my learned trusted work colleague, who I shared Gingers story with, when "bleep" came up to the bakery. I turned around & said hi and he went "ahrr" and continued his shopping. Did I scare him unduly cause he didn't recognise me or did the other night frighten him about my true friendly intentions, perhaps I will never know. Also I must tell you (if I haven't already), that the day after incident with the "can you scan me" kid, his youngest friend was in the shop & we had a short chat about the other night. This kid was about 8 or 9 & had very fond memories of that evening. We talked or I tried to breifly, asking a few questions, but an accent let me down in understanding him properly. I never saw them again, except outside the shop earlier that evening harrassing a cleaner & assisting with floor sweeping. My friendship with the new recruit (16 slim, cute, etc), is progressing well from a work perspective, we've not been paired off yet at till point, but continue to exchange friendly comments with each other occasionaly. That's all I've got time for I'm afraid, see you next time, on the next episode of "It's a Bl's life." Best regards your host for the thread.
