I had been up, for the usual reason that diabetics get up a couple of times a night. I was just dropping back to sleep. It was, so I believed (can't really see the clock with the glasses off) nearing 7 AM. KaBOOM! It was probably the loudest clap of thunder I'd ever heard. Then the house started to shake, and continued doing so for some time. Ah, so it wasn't a thunderstorm, just an earthquake. Good, that's a relief. Back to sleep. Fifteen minutes later the bed started shaking again, and the ornaments rattled on the bureau. One eye opened, nothing falling down. Good, back to sleep again. Did some yard work in the morning. Teraniel actually helped (without even making a fuss). Of course, I had to bribe him out of bed with pancakes and bacon first, it's the only way. (Too bad that doesn't work to bribe him into bed, but our relationship doesn't go along those lines.) Got dizzy during the yard work, blood sugar acting up again. Guess it doesn't like that syrup. Came back in and opened xearth, my wallpaper that shows - among other things - earthquakes. Yup, there it was, a little nondescript circle in northern New York. Nothing like the huge circle just north of Santiago. Brrrr! When things like this happen I'm just glad I don't live in California. Or Chile. Tangie ![]() |
